With heavy hearts, we would like to send our love, thoughts and condolences to friends and family of Daniel Payne.
Last week, we tragically lost a great friend, colleague and member of the HOPE4HEALTH community. D-Payne will be long remembered as a natural comedian with a knack for brightening a room, an intelligent medical student and a dedicated advocate for health equality. He was an active part of HOPE4HEALTH from the time he moved to the Gold Coast and became an important member of the team working as one of the 2015 Rural Portfolio Coordinators and Junior NRHSN Representatives and was elected as one of the 2016 Healthy Start Coordinators. Between this, his medical studies and his active social life, D-Payne also campaigned heavily for refugee rights and changes to the current Australian Policy regarding treatment of refugees.
His passing has come as an overwhelming shock to the HOPE4HEALTH team and the School of Medicine community as a whole and he will be sorely missed.
We hope you are all looking after yourselves and your friends and families during this incredibly difficult time.
