The Cherbourg Specialist Clinics program provides students with a unique opportunity to work one-on-one with health specialists while they conduct valuable outreach clinics in the Indigenous community of Cherbourg. The aim of this program is to facilitate students to work directly with Aboriginal health care in a setting foreign to many living in urban areas of Australia. Through this experience, it is hoped students will have a deeper understanding of Aboriginal health care. In addition, this initiative provides an opportunity for students to develop clinical skills through direct mentorship of the attending specialists.
Currently, HOPE4HEALTH offers two places for second year medical students to attend the monthly placements with Dr Neil Tuttle (Physiotherapist) and Dr Don Pitchford (Orthopedic Surgeon). For more information please contact our Cherbourg Specialist Clinics coordinator.
