CHECK IT OUT is a major Gold Coast community health screening and education event that strives to actively engage the local (and wider) Gold Coast population. The event hopes to provide members of the community with the information they need to look after their health, as well as screening them for common preventable and manageable conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension and mental health. This event will be held in the second half of this year, and will attract numerous health students, exhibitors, community members and keynote speakers.
At the event, people of all ages are invited to attend between 10 am and 2 pm, where they will be invited to undertake a variety of (free) screenings, blood tests and other assessments for conditions such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes and so on, as well as seek advice and information on nutrition, exercise, depression, anxiety, stress, alcohol and drug dependency. Diabetes QLD will also take part in Check It Out and will be undertaking diabetes risk questionnaires and providing advice on how you can reduce your risk.
Check It Out will be staffed by medical and allied health students, with the oversight of practitioners and academic staff from Griffith University. The event is FREE, with all participants receiving an informative booklet including their own test results and advice on where to seek further help.
