HOPE4HEALTH provides and supports places for student participation at Festivals in the Southeast Queensland and Northern NSW Coast area. The 2010 Festival Calendar includes:

 

The Dreaming Festival

The Dreaming is an exciting festival where students can look forward to the most comprehensive showcase of Indigenous arts, policy and politics from Australia and around the world The four night/three day festival program includes:

  • Music
  • Theatrical performances
  • Film
  • Traditional dance
  • Ceremony grounds with traditional healing and rituals
  • Art galleries
  • Campfire story circles
  • Speakers and presentations on policy, health, politics
  • Workshops (drumming, dancing, basket weaving and more!)

 

The festival located between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, taking place in a rural valley surrounded by natural bushland with plenty of native wildlife and a superb view of the Glass House Mountains from the hill-top above the festival grounds. The festival is about an hour drive from Brisbane, or 40 minutes from Caloundra.

Deadly Days  

The 'Deadly Days' Festival aim to give young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people greater opportunities in education, employment and training and get into a positive and healthy lifestyle. The festivals seek to help young people: 

  • Get the most out of education and pathways to take to your future
  • Find out more about employment and training opportunities
  • Encourage a positive outlook and healthy lifestyles
  • Explore contemporary and traditional Aboriginal and
  • Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Get involved in activities promoting and sustaining culture, identity and community interaction
  • Have fun through arts, music, performance and sport activities
