WHERE IT ALL BEGAN...

As the story goes, one evening after lectures had finished for the day, a group of medicine students from Griffith University headed down to The Courthouse Hotel to unwind.  A small group of first years gathered in the sports bar and started chatting.  It was early 2006 and the first years were just starting to get to know each other.  One of the students was aware of an exciting project to build a hospital in Ghana, West Africa and began telling the others about it.  Everyone agreed the project sounded awesome and wished to make a contribution.  Another member of the group suggested a great way to get involved would be to host a gala charity dinner for the health and business communities of the Gold Coast.

It all sounded pretty ambitious but nevertheless enquiries were made...

Almost 18 months later, the inaugural HOPE4HEALTH Jazz Dinner Dance was held on Saturday 26th May, 2007 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The evening was a stunning success!  There were over 450 guests, a new BMW was sold at auction, and entertainment was provided by Con Artists jazz big band.  Most importantly $60,000 was raised for the 'Ghana Project'.
